An Interview With Lime Crime Founder Doe Deere

Doe Deere, the founder and owner of the colorful makeup brand Lime Crime, was interviewed by and revealed her secrets to becoming a prominent female entrepreneur. Rated as one of the “Top Inspiring Female Entrepreneurs” by Self-Made magazine, alongside other outstanding women such as Arianna Huffington and Suze Orman, Deere has been no stranger to the spotlight.

Doe Deere attributes her upbringing to her creative flare and unique products. From a young age she had been creative; always trying out different color combinations and sneaking into her mother’s make-up before she ever owned her own. However, her first introduction to make-up was during a slumber party when she was nine. Since that day, when she completed her and her friend’s witch costumes with dark eye shadow, eyeliner and lips did it all seem to click. Her family was always supportive in her choices. None of them believed that something that just seemed like a hobby would become so popular.

With her love of color ignited Deere would go on to experiment with whatever she could get her hands on. Brands such as Ben Nye and Kryolen, who sported bright pigments in a variety of colors were her favorites. She would mix and match to come up with looks that were entirely her own. Little did she know that people across the world would love the style as well. Doe Deere’s followers almost overnight to see what she would invent next.

Her brand, LimeCrime, embodied everything she loved about color and make-up. The name, made up of Deere’s favorite color and a word that symbolized the revolution she thought to bring, was just something that popped into her head one day. She admits that it was before she thought of herself and her products as a brand. Lime Crime was just a handle Deere needed for her eBay shop. In retrospect, seeing how trendy her company has become, she admits that she would have chosen something more versatile and subtle.

In a world where styles are always changing Doe Deere attributes her friends Elena and Stella Rose, and Dita von Teese as women who inspire her. Though she is always looking on Instagram and Pinterest for women with a fresh style that they make all their own. Doe Deere hopes that she is a role model for those looking to follow their dreams and wants to help other females looking to become entrepreneurs.  Shop for Lime Crime online through major retailers like, or you can browse pictures of their newest looks on Tumblr.
