Isabel Dos Santos was born on April 20, 1973, in Baku, Baki, Azerbaijan, which was part of the Soviet Union, at the time, and is the daughter of José Eduardo Dos Santos, the former president of Angola and Tatiana Kukanova, a former chess champion of Russian descent. As a young girl, Isabel attended St. Paul’s Girls School in London and later King’s College where she majored in electrical engineering. Isabel Dos Santos is an Angolan business woman with links to the banking, retail, energy, and telecommunications fields. With an estimated 2 billion dollars, she is considered as Africa’s first female billionaire, and is regarded as the richest woman in Africa according to Forbes magazine. In 2015, she was listed as the top most 100 influential women and is also known as Africa’s top successful entrepreneur. As of 2019, her estimated net worth is 2.4 billion dollars with a variety of investments and assets.
About Isabel Dos Santos has been holding management positions as well as managing companies on the European stock exchange for the past 20 years. Isabel was appointed as chairman in the board of state oil company Sonangal by her father José Eduardo Dos Santos, and in November 2017, was exonerated by new Angolan president João Lourenço. Isabel Dos Santos remained in London after attending King’s College where she met her husband. The two remained in London where Isabel worked for prominent international corporations and held several positions. Isabel returned to Luanda to involve herself in business in politics.
She became the project manager for the subsidiary of the Jembas Group, Urbana 2000 which had a contract with the Angolan government to clean up the streets. Isabel then helped change the trucking business by introducing walkie-talkies. Later she started a nightclub on an undeveloped strip of land in a major African City called Miami Beach Club, which was the first in the city. Over the next years Isabel used her investments wealth in Portugal and Africa founding many companies which managed her assets. Isabel Dos Santos has boosted the Angolan economy by using our investments in Portugal create businesses in Angola.
