Nitin Khanna was born in 1971, in India. He comes from a family of entrepreneurs and his father was in the Army. He spent most of his childhood at boarding schools. After growing up with so many different business plans in his home he came to the U.S. and went to college. He received his undergraduate and Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering at Purdue University. During his Master’s in Robotics, he was bored with school and quit.

His brother came to the U.S. in 1999 and together they co-founded Saber Corp. Nitin Khanna and his brother grew the company over the next decade. They became well known in the 2000 Bush vs Gore mess in Florida. After helping Oregon with their voting systems they won about 21 states. They also added software for the DMV, child care, child support, and various others. By 2007 the company had over 1200 employees and was making over $120 million in revenue and he sold it to help other companies.

In 2009, Nitin Khanna founded MergerTech and it became the largest company to focus on mobile technology and helping fellow entrepreneurs. Of the various positions he’s held in companies, his key role has always been the strategy, the mission and the culture of a company. When it comes to the strategies he has used in business there has always been one key focus, its execution. He never tries idea-based businesses. Along with finding the best strategy, he finds the best talent for each business as well.

A long term goal of Nitin Khanna is to finally build a company with lasting power. Even though he left CuraCann, his cannabis company, he hopes it will continue to grow. He would love to be able to tell people 40 years from now that he created CuraCann. Some advice to anyone thinking of becoming an entrepreneur is to always be critical of your own skills and not to assume you are the best. After going to Burning Man, he discovered electronic music and decided to give DJing a try. Other hobbies include an executive producer of a few documentaries and wine making.
