Vijay Eswaran: Businessman, Author, Philanthropist

Vijay Eswaran was born in Malaysia on October 7, 1960. In 1984, Vijay graduated from the London School of Economics with a socioeconomic degree. He later went on to obtain a professional certification from CIMA in the UK and his MBA from Southern Illinois University in 1984. Vijay is the co-founder and executive chairman of the QI Group of Companies.

Vijay did not have it easy when it came to founding his company. In fact, the odds were truly stacked against him. He wasn’t rich, he didn’t have any familial or friend connections who could help, and there was a major economic crisis going on in Asia. But none of that was able to get in the way of Vijay’s vision.

In 1998, Vijay founded QI. QI serves a multitude of arenas, such as direct selling and training, telecommunications, luxury, and leisure, among many others. The very successful QI Group has offices in Hong Kong, Malaysia, Thailand, and Singapore. In 2013, Vijay was given the award of CEO of The Year by the Asean Business Advisory Council Malaysia. Besides being a successful businessman, Vijay is also an author and public speaker. He speaks to audiences all over the globe, discussing everything from business to spiritual matters. Vijay’s most well known book, In the Sphere of Silence, was published in 2005. It discusses Vijay’s keys to life management by combining spirituality with business, and has been translated into numerous languages. Vijay has also penned three other books, In The Thinking Zone, 18 Stepping Stones, and On The Wings of Thought.

Vijay is also a philanthropist. He created the RYTHM Foundation, which is linked to QI and focuses on corporate social responsibility. Vijay has helped to establish a number of community programs that focus on mentoring individuals. Vijay has also made donations to various charities and individuals in need. In 2011, Forbes Asia named him to the their annual Heroes in Philanthropy list.
